Rules

Lift and evidence standards.

These are the standards the board enforces.

The short version

  1. Public video evidence, or it didn't happen

Every ranked lift links to a public clip: an X post from your account. The clip must show the lift you claim — the bar, the full range, the lockout, and you. No video, no rank.

  2. What counts as a squat, bench, and deadlift

Deadlift: conventional or sumo, both rank on the same board. The bar starts from the floor and finishes with hips and knees locked and shoulders back — no hitching, no trap bar, no deficit or block pulls. Back squat: a free barbell on your back, hip crease below the top of the knee, then stand to full lockout — no Smith machine, safety bar, or box. Bench press: the bar touches your chest and presses to full lockout with your butt on the bench — a pause is optional, a bounce off the chest is a no-lift. Anything else is a wrong lift and can be challenged.

  3. Raw lifting, straps on their own board

Belts, knee sleeves, wrist wraps, and chalk are fine. Knee wraps, squat or deadlift suits, and bench shirts are not — a lift that uses them is rejected. Lifting straps are allowed on the deadlift only, and a strapped pull ranks on the deadlift board with straps — never on the main deadlift board or Total, where grip is part of the lift. Tick straps when you submit. A pull that used straps without saying so is moved to the straps board.

  4. The board polices itself

After watching the evidence, any signed-in lifter can challenge a ranked lift with one structured reason under their own public X handle: the weight doesn't match, that's not this lifter, wrong lift or no-lift, or the bodyweight looks off. A challenge never removes rank on its own — the evidence gets another review, so no one can be voted off. Never a vote, a flag count, or an automatic removal.

  5. The evidence is bound to your X account

You sign in with X, and the evidence post must come from the account you signed in with. You cannot rank someone else's lift as yours.

  6. One clip, one claim

A video can only be used once on OutliftMe. Same clip, different URL, still the same clip. Film a new attempt when you want a bigger number.

  7. Three attempts per lift, and no repeats

Your board holds at most three deadlifts, three back squats, and three bench presses — pending and ranked together. A rejected lift frees its slot. The same weight does not count twice: a repeat of your 100 kg pull at the same bodyweight is refused. The same 100 kg at a lower bodyweight is a new lift — it scores higher DOTS, because every lift is scored with the bodyweight recorded on it, and the board keeps your best score.

  8. Rank is DOTS, not raw kilos

DOTS is the bodyweight-adjusted scoring formula used in modern powerlifting. It answers the only interesting question — who is stronger for their size — so a 60 kg lifter pulling 140 kg can outrank a 110 kg lifter pulling 180 kg. The coefficients are the published DOTS values with separate sets for men and women, calibrated for bodyweights of 40–210 kg (men) and 40–150 kg (women); outside that range the edge value applies. The raw weight is always shown next to the score. The kg/lbs toggle only changes display; the board stores kilograms.

    DOTS = weight × 500 / (a + b·bw + c·bw² + d·bw³ + e·bw⁴)

weight = bar weight in kg · bw = bodyweight in kg

  9. Three lifts, four boards

Deadlift, back squat, and bench press are independent competitions with their own rankings. Total is the sum of your best verified raw lift in all three — you need all three to appear on it. Total DOTS uses the bodyweight recorded on the most recent of those three lifts, so lifts at 78 / 80 / 85 kg are scored at 85 kg. Total is one board among four, not the canonical ranking. The deadlift also has a with-straps board: strapped pulls rank there next to every raw pull.

  10. Rank is earned after the evidence is reviewed

Submissions stay pending until the evidence is reviewed. Verified lifts hold rank. A challenged lift keeps its rank while the evidence is checked again — a challenge never removes rank on its own. Rejected lifts leave the ranking. A challenged lift that holds up comes back as reverified. You can withdraw your own lift from your profile; withdrawn lifts leave the ranking and free the clip, except a lift withdrawn while it is challenged — that clip cannot come back. No one is ever told they earned a rank before verification.

  11. A credible bodyweight challenge needs a weigh-in clip

If a bodyweight challenge looks credible, you have 7 days to post a public weigh-in clip from your own X account — you on a scale, readout visible. No clip by the deadline means the lift is rejected. A weigh-in that is heavier than the claim re-scores the lift rather than removing it. A challenge never forces a weigh-in on its own, and never removes rank on its own.

  12. Profession, company, and country never affect rank

What you do and where you do it is optional context shown next to your lifts. It never changes a DOTS score, a rank, or a review outcome. Once it is listed, it changes when you lift heavier than your best on a lift you already have on record. In the first 24 hours you can change it without a heavier lift, and you can remove it any time.

  13. Rank cannot be bought

There are no paid slots, sponsored positions, or follower bonuses. Follower count, sponsorship, and payment have no effect on rank. A support or payment link on a profile is the lifter's own and off this site — it never changes DOTS, rank, or review. The only input is a verified lift.

The lift states

  • Pending reviewSubmitted. Waiting for the evidence to be reviewed.
  • VerifiedReviewed and on the board.
  • Challenged by liftersA lifter challenged this lift. Rank stands while it's reviewed.
  • RejectedThe evidence didn't hold up. The lift left the board.
  • Challenged and heldChallenged, reviewed again, and held.
  • WithdrawnThe lifter took this lift off the board.

Three different verifications

  • Identity verification is X sign-in. It proves which account you are — nothing more.
  • Lift verification is the review of your public video evidence. It is what puts a lift on the ranking. After that, every lifter can still challenge it.
  • Business verification is optional context about your company or project. It never affects rank.
